Rev. Jack Dowdy

Reverend Jack Dowdy, age 86 of Pitts, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011 in the UPAC Nursing Center in Moultrie.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 15th in the Pitts Baptist Church.Reverend Jim Faircloth, Reverend Clint Sullens and Reverend Bill Kent will officiate Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Tuesday before the service in the church.Interment will be in the Pitts Cemetery. Reverend Dowdy was born October 28, 1924 in Irwinville, Ga.He was son of the late James S. Dowdy and Elsie Mitchell Dowdy. He was a Baptist Minister, pastoring Cannonville Baptist Church, Abbeville, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Cordele, Oakdale Baptist Church, Moultrie, Union Baptist Church, Pitts, Sharon Baptist Church, Rhine, Pitts Baptist Church, Pitts, after retirement he served as interim pastor of several churches. He was a member of the Pitts Baptist Church, the Men’s Adult Sunday School Class and Rochelle Masonic Lodge No. 190. He served his country with honor in the United States Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife Lucille C. Dowdy. Survivors include daughters: Jackie(Jackie)Sumner, Norman Park and Vickie (Mike) Parker, Macon. 3 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren. Frazier & Son Funeral Home in Rochelle is in charge of arrangements.
