Myra Belle Brown McGuinty, age 89, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 15, 2026 at her home in Rochelle, Georgia. Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 18, at 4 p.m. in the Morningside Cemetery in Rochelle. The Rev. Jay Moore, Rev. Nelson Goddard and Rev. Richard Compton will officiate. Myra Belle was born in Owensboro on February 17, 1937. She was the daughter of the late David Fredrick Brown and Minneye Luke Brown.
Survivors include her husband of over 67 years, Bobby McGuinty of Rochelle; sons Wayne (Robin) McGuinty of Rochelle and Scott (Georgianna) McGuinty of Pitts; grandchildren Mindy McGuinty of Lilly, Patrick (Cassidy) McGuinty of Monticello, Mary Kate (Mark) Courson of Fitzgerald, Mary-Margaret (Brock Harrell) McGuinty of Pitts, Robert (Jessica) McGuinty III of Abbeville and Maggie (Levi) Smith of Ambrose; great-grandaughter Marley Kate Courson of Fitzgerald and soon-to-be great-grandsons Levi Walker Smith II of Ambrose and Robert Wayne “Rayne” McGuinty IV of Abbeville.
Myra was a 1958 graduate of Georgia State College for Women (now Georgia College and State University) and a proud member of the Big Eight. She was a member and former Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher and 2 and 3 year old teacher at First Baptist Church of Rochelle. Myra was an active member of the Alberta Crummey Garden Club for many years. Her calling in life was to be a schoolteacher and she taught in Camden, Glynn and Wilcox Counties for over 43 years finishing her career as the PreK coordinator in Wilcox County. Myra had a great love for children and seeing her former students do well in life brought her much joy.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to caretakers Dr. Kaine Brown, Robby McBryant of Crisp Regional Hospice, Michelle Ferguson, Sharon “Neat” Wright, Scheneka “Shy” Grace, Sandra Grace, Teresa Dawson and Tee Dawson.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 17th in the funeral home. Frazier and Son Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
