Mary Henderson Rhodes, a cherished resident of Abbeville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on December 25, 1939, in the same town she would call home throughout her life, Mary was known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit.

For over 30 years, Mary dedicated herself to her career at Wilcox County State Bank, where she became a beloved figure, recognized not only for her professional contributions but also for her genuine care for her colleagues and customers. She touched many lives during her tenure, forging lasting relationships that transcended the traditional boundaries of work.

Mary’s passions extended beyond her profession. She found immense joy in sewing and nurturing her garden. Mary brought much joy to those around her.

Mary is survived by her loving sons, Johnny Rhodes (Ruth Ann) and James Rhodes (Peggy), her daughter, Joselyn Studstill (Joseph), her daughter Darlene Dixon (Mark), and her sister-in-law Pam Kicklighter (Robert), grandchildren: Johnathan Rhodes (Kristi), Kayla Fuller (Tommy), Heather Hall (Kevin), Matthew Studstill (Sara Beth), Caleb Studstill (Becky), and Adam Rhodes (Anna), all of Abbeville. Brandon Dixon (Alicia) Air Force, and Chase Dixon (Caty) of Kathleen. Her great-grandchildren: Koltson Hall, Skylar Hall, Lizzie Mae Fuller, Kayli Ann Fuller, Lylafae Dixon, Luna Dixon, Luke Dixon, Asher Studstill, Charlotte Studstill, and Iris Studstill. Together, they carry forward her legacy of love and generosity, each sharing their own cherished memories of a mother and friend who always knew how to uplift those in her presence.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Henry and Hazel Hollingsworth Henderson, three brothers, Ed Henderson, Joe Henderson, and Charles Henderson, along with her sister, Alice Bostic. Their spirits will surely welcome her with open arms, as she joins them in peace.

Mary’s visitation will be held on May 2, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 3:00 PM, both taking place at Lebanon Baptist Church, located at 2271 Lebanon Road, Abbeville, GA. Mary will then be laid to rest in a heartfelt interment ceremony at Lebanon Cemetery.

As the family prepares to say their final goodbyes, they find solace in knowing that Mary’s love will continue to resonate in their hearts and in the stories they share—stories of a remarkable woman who lived a life full of love, compassion, and unwavering strength. Her legacy will shine brightly in the lives she touched, forever reminding us of the beauty of community, family, and a life well-lived.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lebanon Baptist Church or the Georgia Baptist Children's Home.
