Joyce Bloodworth

Joyce Bloodworth, age 90, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2026 at her residence. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Friendship Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour before the service in the church from 10-11 AM. Interment will be held in the Friendship Cemetery. Rev. Brian Sangster and Rev Larry Wilbanks will officiate.

With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of a truly special woman, a beloved mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of the Lord whose life was defined by humility, devotion, hard work, and an immeasurable love for her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Bloodworth, her parents, Thomas and Lelia Vinson, a sister, Carolyn Edge, a brother, John Raleigh Vinson, and a grandson, Mason James Bloodworth.

She was a humble woman who never needed recognition or praise. She simply believed in doing things the right way, caring for the people she loved, and making sure everything was just as it should be.

Keeping a clean home and having everything in order were important to her. There was a place for everything and everything had its place. To her, caring for her home was another way of caring for her family.

A hot meal around her table was about much more than food. It was how she showed love. Some of the most treasured memories of her will forever be tied to that table, her kitchen, and the meals she lovingly prepared.

Her faith was an important part of who she was. She was an avid churchgoer, loved the Lord and understood the importance of being in His house. Her faith was not something reserved for Sundays; it could be seen in the way she lived, served others and loved her family.

Of all the things she cared for, her family meant the most to her. She loved them deeply and faithfully. She found joy in having everyone together, knowing they were cared for, and making sure no one left her home hungry.

Her life may have been humble, but the legacy she leaves behind is anything but small. Those who loved her will miss the things that made her unmistakably herself. Her family will carry those things with them for generations. She lived simply, loved deeply, served faithfully, and left this world better because she was here.

Survivors include: a daughter, Karen Thompson Jones (Terry), a son, Jim Bloodworth (Michele), grandchildren, Tara Moore (Jeremy), Shelly Sheffield (Jake), and Zac Bloodworth, great-grandchildren, Hunter Moore (Makena), Brantley Moore, Lexie Moore, Bailey Sheffield, Brinleigh Sheffield, and Steven Sheffield, and a great-great-grandchild, Parker Moore.
