George Curtis Brown, Sr.

George Curtis Brown, Sr., age 91 of Abbeville, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at his residence. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Cannonville Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour before the service in the church. Interment will be held in the Cannonville Cemetery. Rev. Joel Owens and Rev. Tim Moorhouse will officiate.

Curtis was born on August 5, 1934, in Rhine, Georgia. He was son of the late Frank Brown and Mamie Sue Howell Brown. First and foremost, he was a faithful servant and witness for Christ and he was a dedicated family man. He was a self-employed farmer who also had many hobbies. He loved to cut grass, make cane syrup, and was an avid outdoorsman in his younger years. He was a faithful member of Cannonville Baptist Church. Curtis served his country with honor in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his daughter-Regina Brown, sisters-Thelma Baldwin, Ruth Bell, and Sara Warren, brothers-John Brown, Thomas “Buddy” Brown, Ted Brown, and Jack Brown.

Survivors include: wife-Hazel Brown, brother-Gene Brown (Joann), sons-George Curtis Brown, Jr. (Audrey), Mark Dwayne Brown (Teena), Daniel Dwight Brown (Christina), Timothy Caleb Brown (Mandie), James Aaron Brown (Erica), daughters-Melissa McKinney (Ralph), Sandy Warren (Shelby), and Trish Widener (Rickey), 2 sister-in-laws-Sis Brown and Nellie Brown, 21 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cannonville Baptist Church, 3882 Cannonville Rd, Abbeville, Ga. 31001.
