Faye F. Gibbs, age 83, of Abbeville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026 after a brief stay at Tift Regional Hospital.
Faye was born in Macon, and grew up in Dooly County. She graduated from Unadilla High School, and attended Georgia Southern University. She was selected as McCall's Teen Fashion Girl from her entry where she made her own ball gown and modeled it. She won numerous talent competitions and played as a guest in a band on 13 WMAZ. Faye then moved to Macon to work at Prime Loan Company. She met her husband, Larry while working in Macon. They moved back to Dooly County when Larry went into the service. Faye was a stay-at-home mom for a period of time. She later became the bookkeeper at Citizens Bank and Fullington Academy in Pinehurst. When Faye moved to Wilcox County, she worked in the Wilcox County Schools. She then became a bookkeeper at Wilcox DFCS, and later became regional bookkeeper for DFCS in Dublin until she retired. She was a member of Pinehurst Baptist Church where she was a pianist and organist. She was a member of the American Legion Post #71 Women's Auxiliary. She attended Christian Home Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching, and crocheting. In her later years, she became an avid sports fan, but she especially loved her Atlanta Braves.
Faye was born February 2, 1943, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Lewis Fullington and Eloise (Wee) Hudson Fullington Agerton. Survivors include her sons, Nathan Gibbs (Dawn), and Michael Gibbs; his daughters, Lisa Harden (Stevie), and Lynn Young (Craig), and chosen son, Quentin Flowers; her ten grandchildren, Gracey Gibbs Mullis (JT), Noah Gibbs, Ansley Harden, Abigail Harden Beddow (Brooks), Anna Carol Harden, Jessi Young Gonzalez (David), Chase Young (Macy), Zach Gibbs (Summer), Cole Gibbs, and Cal Young (Gracie); and her four great-grandchildren, Cason and Ellie James Young, Stetson Gibbs, and Indy Kate Young.
A private graveside service will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery for family and close friends on. Friday, July 17, at 10:00 am Rev. Bill Crockett officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Larry Gibbs Memorial Scholarship, P.O. Box 461, Abbeville, GA 31001 and the American Legion Post #71 carry of Edwin Lee, 627 Wayne Keen rd. Abbeville, Ga. 31001 . The family will be at the family home, 7712 Hwy. 215 South, Abbeville, GA 31001.
