Catherine McCook

Catherine W. McCook, age 78 of Fitzgerald, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Life Care Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. in the Siloam Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Rev. Chuck Taylor will officiate. Interment will be held in the Siloam Cemetery.

Catherine was born on December 15, 1947 in Abbeville, Georgia. She was daughter of the late J.P. Keen and Edna Bowen Keen. She worked as a Quality Supervisor with Davidson Textron. Catherine enjoyed gardening. Of all the things she loved, she loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira McCook, Jr.

Survivors include: sons-Chip McCook (Stefannie), Stephen McCook, and Hunter McCook (Trinity), daughters-Melissa Wright and Amanda Blum (Scott), brother- Larry Keen (Brenda), and sister-Pauline Hitt, 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was lovingly known as “Mama-Jama” to her grandchildren.
